Name: Belton Wayne Camper, 97 Died: May 1, 2006, in Residence Mr. Belton Wayne "Buddy" Camper, 97, of Lindale are scheduled for 9 a.m., Thursday May 4, 2006 at Union Chapel Cemetery, under the direction of Hilliard Funeral Home, Van, with Mike Biggs officiating. Mr. Camper passed away peacefully into eternity following a battle with non-Hodgkins lymphoma on May 1, 2006 at home with his family by his side. Belton Wayne was born January 8, 1909 in Smith County to the late Walter Lee Camper and Cinderella "Dilla" Abrams Camper. He loved Hideaway Lake where he lived and served as a security guard for 15 years following his retirement from the Cotton Bowl and State Fair of Texas in Dallas. He was preceded in death his his wife of 56 years, Mary Lee Wilson Camper; two sisters, Merle Swafford and Faye Williams; brother, Vernon "Dugan" Camper; and grandson, Richard Wade Rogers. Survivors include his son, Buddy Wayne Camper and wife Pat of Hideaway; daughter, Karen Lee Rogers and husband Wayne of Gilroy, CA; grandson, Bryan Wayne Camper and wife Diana of Richardson; granddaughter, Brooks Ann Camper of Hillsborough, NC; and his second wife, Janie Lorene McCellon and her family of Lindale. Honorary pallbearers are Hideaway Lake Security Guards, both past and present. If desired, memorials may be made to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, Texas 75701.
