Nelda E. Anderson, at 102 years, has passed on to be with her Saviour. Her passing occurred peacefully Saturday, October 22, 2022, in The Woodlands, Texas. Services will be held Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home (6101 Bosque Blvd., Waco), with Pastor Gary Kreder officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemond Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Nelda was a long-term resident of Mart, Texas, and spent most of her life in Central Texas. Born as Nelda Holub, she was the youngest of nine children and the last to join the group in heaven. Annie, Mary, Emma, Libby, Rose, Fred, George and Edwin preceded her. Longevity was in the genes as three ladies made it to 99 and several men made it in to the 90s. She grew up in the Holub family in the community of Elk where the family had a small farm. The family was very active in the local SPJST lodge in Elk where their father was a founder. They had many other relatives in this small community. The family raised their own foods and livestock and were true organic farmers before it became popular. Nelda and her siblings were a close family and survived the Great Depression and WWII. Nelda met her husband, Trumon Anderson, during WWII in a bomb factory in McGregor. They were married for 38 years when Trumon passed. She has one son, Lon Anderson of The Woodlands. Nelda was very active for most of her life and enjoyed gardening and animals. She became a Dietetics Supervisor for the VA Hospital in Marlin and worked tirelessly there until retirement. She had several passions in life that she enjoyed daily. Trumon and Nelda moved to the City of Mart, Texas, in 1966 to a Vintage House with about two acres of land. She loved to garden and had about half an acre that she worked into her 90s. She loved to make peach cobbler and grew the best tomatoes in Mart. She loved goats, chickens and puppy dogs. Nelda attended the First Baptist Church in Mart for many years and was close to all the pastors and churchgoers. She also loved to dance and did so with Trumon as long as they could. She and her sister Rose were two of the best domino players in Central Texas, and they had the ribbons to prove it. Nelda was a big sports fan and loved watching the Cowboys, Mavericks and Rangers. She and her brother Edwin would often call each other to try to discuss why the coaches didn't make the calls that they would have.
