US ARMY WORLD WAR II
E. E. "Snake" Holub, 89, passed to that great Fishing Hole in the sky to be with God, on Thursday, March 16, 2006. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, March 20, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Timothy Vaverek as celebrant. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum. Rosary and visitation will be at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 18, at Bellmead Funeral Home Chapel. Edwin was born in Elk, Texas, to the late John and Agnes Holub. On August 1, 1940, he married Helon Louise Milner. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Philippines and Japan as a Medic in the U.S. Army. Upon discharge, he worked for the Veterans Administration in Dallas, then returned to Waco where he was self-employed as a Mobil Oil Consignment Agent operating a wholesale and retail gas and oil business until his retirement in 1980. He was an avid sports fan (loved his Baylor Bears), and enjoyed fishing, hunting, dancing, and golf all of his life. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellmead and was loved by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Julius, Edward, John, Jr., Fred, and George; and sisters: Mary, Annie, Emma, and Libby. Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Helon; sons, Ken Holub, Ron Holub and wife, Joyce, and Johnny Holub and wife, Lesa, all of Waco; daughter, Sharon Pelletiere and husband, Joe, of North Carolina; grandchildren, Nikole Pelletiere, Danielle Pelletiere, Scott Holub, Kris Holub, Nick Livingston, Sonnie Vereen; sisters, Rose Ganser and Nelda Anderson, both of Mart; nieces, Barbara Gulig and her husband, Leonard, of Killeen, and Stephanie Scheel, of South Dakota; nephews, Lon Anderson and his wife, Paula, of The Woodlands, and Stanley Jungemann, of South Dakota; and several great-nieces and nephews.
