Eloise Lively Rollings passed away on March 26, 2015 in Grapevine, Texas at the age of 95. Funeral services will be on Sunday, March 29th at the Rogers Church of Christ with visitation preceding the service. Burial will be on Tuesday, March 31st at the Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Temple Texas Ronald McDonald House or the Rogers Church of Christ. She was born on February 26, 1920, in Rogers, Texas to Charlie Lively and Chattie Bryant Lively. Their Bryant Station farm was part of an original land grant to Eloise's great-great-grandfather in 1837. She was raised on the farm along with her two younger brothers, Calvin and Lafon, and younger sister, Marie. She graduated from Rogers High School and attended the University of Texas. In 1940 she moved to Galveston to work. There she met and married Neil Norman Rollings on April 11, 1942. That began her life as a Navy wife, living in Seattle, Washington and Norfolk, Virginia and many places in between. After 21 years in the Navy, they settled in Shreveport, Louisiana where Neil worked for the post office and Eloise taught Bible class, was active in PTA on the local and state levels, and worked with Girl Scouts. For 10 years she was the office manager at East Ridge Country Club. In 1975 they retired to Lindale, Texas where they lived for 10 years before moving back to the Bryant Station farm. They enjoyed gardening, canning and raising cattle. They traveled all over the United States, sightseeing, visiting relatives, and attending Navy reunion gatherings. In 2002 Neil and Eloise celebrated 60 years of marriage. Later that year Neil passed away. From that time, Eloise spent more and more time with their daughter and her family in Kingwood, Texas. Family was very important to her. She enjoyed attending Ladies Bible Class, writing cards, phoning friends, family and Navy acquaintances and cooking (especially cookies which she shared with everyone), but most of all supporting her three grandchildren in all their activities. She was a member of the Rogers Church of Christ, the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and the San Jacinto Descendants. Mrs. Rollings was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and 2 brothers. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Delores and Dan Barnett of Fort Worth; 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. She is also survived by one sister and numerous nieces and nephews.
