Bio

William A. “Bill” Loftin, 73, of DeRidder, LA passed from this life on Monday, March 23, 2015, at his residence. Bill was born on Wednesday, March 26, 1941, in Port Arthur, TX to Reginald Lee and Gussie Craft Loftin. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law of Apopka, FL; three daughters and two sons-in-law; one brother and sister-in-law of DeRidder, LA; one sister and brother-in-law of DeRidder, LA; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Evelene Kennedy Loftin and 1 son, Tarrell Wayne Loftin. Bill was born in Port Arthur, TX and lived most of his life in Rosepine, LA. He was a Retired Veteran of the United States Navy serving 31 ½ years. He toured the world three times and served off the coast of Viet Nam for 10 tours of duty where he was a Gunner’s Mate. He had also served as a Recruiter in DeRidder for his last 10 years. Bill also reached the highest rank for an enlisted man of Master Chief. He was the Past Post Commander of the American Legion Post 27 in DeRidder and also served as District Commander several times. He also served as President of the Rosepine Historical Society since its beginning in 2000. Bill was a passionate civic leader in the community. He was co-owner of Bande’s T-Shirts and more in Rosepine. Funeral Service were held at Shady Grove Pentecostal Church of DeRidder, LA. on Thursday, March 26, 2015, Rev. Jeff Phillips officiated. Burial followed at Lewis Cemetery in DeRidder, LA. Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder, LA.
