Herald Coaster, September 7, 1990: Funeral services for Emil Volek, 81, of Fredericksburg, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at the First Presbyterian Church of Rosenberg. Rev. F.W. Cate will be officiating the service and burial will be at the Greenlawn Cemetery. Mr. Volek died Wednesday, Sept. 5, in Fredericksburg. He was born July 12, 1909 in Taylor, Texas to Julius and Louise Matejek Volek. Mr. Volek was a barber and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Rosenberg. He was also active in the Sons of Hermann and the Woodmen of the World. Mr. Volek was a widower. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Judy Volek of Houston; sister, Mrs. A.B. McMakin of Taylor; and grandchildren, Chris and Holly Volek of Houston. Garmany & Carden Funeral Home in Rosenberg is in charge of the services. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7.
