Bio

Mr. James R. Griffith, 79, of Rice, Texas, passed away March 18, 2015, at the Twilight Nursing Home in Corsicana. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, March 21, 2015, at the Corley Funeral Home. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 22, 2015, in Rice Cemetery in Rice, Texas, with Dr. Darren Heil officiating followed with Military Honors. James was born in Chatfield, Texas, to the late Dorothy and Chester O. Griffith. He served honorably in the U.S. Army for over twenty years. He also worked for the Huntsville Prison, and retired from the Dallas Police Department after 15 years of service. James was a devoted family man, and was married to Lonnie for 55 years. Survivors include his wife, Lonnie Griffith; daughter, Misty Hampton, of Smith Station, Alabama; sons, Michael Griffith, of Brick, New Jersey, and Stanley Phillips, of Rice; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
