Bio

Joy Frances Short, age 87, of McKinney, Texas, passed away March 16, 2015. Joy was born February 8, 1928, in McKinney, Texas, to James Monroe and Georgie Alberta (Duggan) Hamm. She married Carl Marie Short on March 22, 1943, in Durant, Oklahoma. Joy was active in the Senior Citizen Center in McKinney. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in McKinney. She is survived by her son, Carl Short of McKinney, Texas; grandson, Captain Carl Sim James of Arlington, Virginia; nieces and nephews, Joanne Gregory and Donnie Gregory, both of Chickasha, Oklahoma, Steve Gregory of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Glen Gregory of Norman, Oklahoma, Janice Blevins and Gary Arwood both of Bristol, Tennessee, and Bubba Arwood of Pound, Virginia; and several cousins and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Short in 1998, and sisters, Imogene Gregory and Evelyn Arwood. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 20, 2015, at Pecan Grove Cemetery in McKinney, Texas. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 20, 2015 at Wesley United Methodist Church, 2705 Virginia Pkwy., McKinney, Texas, 75071. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
