Robert served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War in the Seabees as a Heavy Equipment Operator May 3, 1966-September 19, 1971. Robert married Nancy Lea Hill on September 27, 1967 in Nebraska City, Nebraska. They are the parents of Diane, Michael and JoAnn.
