Particulars concerning her life and announcement of the funeral services were not available at press time, although tentative plans are for late Tuesday afternoon. She was a member of the First Baptist church and is survived by her husband and one son, Lieutenant Wilford B. Jones, Two brothers, Clyde and Earl Nickols of Picton. Greenville (Texas) Evening Banner, Tue, 13 Oct 1942, page 5, Last Rites Are Held Today for Mrs. Cecil Funeral services were to be held at 4 o'clock this afternoon in the chapel of the Gray Funeral Home for Mrs. Cecil Nix, 47, who passed away Monday afternoon at her home, 2916 Crockett street, after an illness of several months. The services were to be conducted by Dr. C.B. Jackson pastor of the First Baptist church and the Rev. Carl Irby of Newsome, Texas, with burial following in Forest Park cemetery. Pallbearers were named as Roy Edwards, Fred Meadows, Benton Morgan, Ralph Townes, Lawrence Crawford of this city and Mack Orr and Marshall Dodson of Pickton. Mrs. Nix, nee Gussie Mae Nickels, was born in Hopkins-co near Pickton, on August 23, 1895. She moved to Greenville after her marriage to Cecil Nix on April 17, 1920. She had been member of the First Baptist church here for many years and had been an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Widely known in this section she had many friends who admired her for her traits of generosity and her compassion for those in need. Mrs. Nix is survived by her husband, and a son, Lieutenant Wilford D. Jones, who is stationed at Camp Polk, La.; two brothers, Earl Nickels and Clyde Nickels, and a cousin, Mrs. Tom Mitchell.
