Grand Island (Nebraska) Independent July 1978 Raymond Rork, 81, a resident of the Nebraska Veterans Home, died Saturday evening at a local hospital after a long illness. Services will be at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral. The Rev. Francis Curran will officiate. Burial will be in the Calvary section of Westlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-7:30 p.m. at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 7:30. Mr. Rork was born April 1, 1897, at St. Libory, the son of Frank and Katherine O-Neill Rork. He was educated and grew up there. He farmed until his induction into the U.S. Army during World War I. After his discharge he returned to farm near St. Libory. On April 11, 1923, he married Cecilia Franssen at Burwell. They farmed near St. Libory until 1943 when they moved to Grand Island. Mr. Rork worked for Sutter's Dairy and after the firm was sold to Beatrice Foods continued his employment there until his retirement in June 1962. Because of poor health, he and Mrs. Rork moved to the Nebraska Veterans Home in 1967. She died Dec. 29, 1971. Mr. Rork was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral parish and was affiliated with the Platt-Deutsche Society and American Legion Post No. 53 in Grand Island. Survivors include two sons, Darrel of Grand Island and William of Fort Morgan, Colo.; a daughter, Mrs. Lucille Haisch of Fort Morgan; five brothers, George of Des Moines, Iowa, Bill of Edinburg, Texas, Robert of Snyder, Texas, Louis of Whiteface, Texas, and Charles of San Antonio, Texas; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Swick of Vermillion, Kan., Mrs. Elizabeth Burgess of Redding, Calif., and Mrs. Kathleen Morgan of Oklahoma City, Okla., 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers.
