Grand Island (Nebraska) Independent June 1981 Eldon R. Penas, 57, of 222 W. Eighth died Monday at an Ord care home. Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Ord Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Curtis Trenhaille will officiate. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. at Westlawn Cemetery. Visitation was to be Tuesday from 7-8:30 p.m. at the chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Valley County Hospital in Ord. Mr. Penas was born June 9, 1924, at Ord, the son of Louis and Bessie Moravecke Penas. He grew up on a farm west of Ord and attended rural schools. He worked on farms in the Ord area and also worked for the City of Ord and Valley County before moving to Grand Island in 1960. He worked at Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant and the Nebraska Veterans Home before ill health forced his retirement. He was a member of Eagles Aerie No. 378 and the Platt-Deutsche Society, both of Grand Island. Survivors include his mother of Ord; a daughter, Roberta Penas, stationed with the U.S. Air Force in Louisiana; a brother, Elmer of Grand Island; three sisters, Lydia Proskocil and Mildred Pokorny, both of Ord, and Agnes Muhlbach of Grand Island. He was preceded in death by his father and an infant brother.
