Married Mar 14 1940 Loup City, Sherman, NE ------------------------------------------ MAXINE BURSON Maxine Burson, 72, of Ord, died Thursday, Feb. 24, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Services were March 2 at the Methodist Church in Ord with the Rev. Jim Miler officiating. Visitation was Tuesday from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Burial was in the Ord City Cemetery. Mrs. Burson was born Nov. 12, 1921, in Sherman County to Thomas and Gladys (Hayhurst) Hammond Sr. She grew up and was educated at Litchfield graduating with the class of 1938. She married LeRoy Burson on March 14, 1940, at Loup City. They farmed in Valley County until moving to Ord in 1967. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ord. Survivors include a daughter, Carol (Mrs. Marvin) Lukesh of Ord; four sons, James of Windsor, Mo., Ronald of Mitchell, S. Dak., Marvin of Holdrege and Kenneth of North Loup; two sisters, Betty Bonczynski of Rockville and Marge Shields of Nevada, Mo.; two brothers, Charles Hammond of Norfolk and Thomas Hammond Jr. of Sacramento, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a son, Loren.
