Martha Agnes Bernard was the wife of Edmund Giles Gothier. Their children are Helen Margaret, Charlotte Magdalen, Harold Bernard, Shirley May, Edward Eugene and Nita Marie. OBITUARY FROM JOAN MEISTER #47157613 OBITUARY: The Anthon Herald, 12 December 1956: Funeral services were held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Anthon, for Mrs. Ed Gothier who died Friday, November 30, 1956, at the home of her daughter, Shirley, in Los Angeles, California, due to a heart attack. Father Conlon conducted the service and burial was made in Mount St.Joseph Cemetery under direction of Hudgel funeral home. Martha Bernard, daughter of Henry and Nora Cragin Bernard, was born in Anthon, January 10, 1895, and married Ed Gothier January 8, 1916, at Anthon. Survivors include the widower, four daughters, Mrs. Willerd Sawin, Anthon, Mrs. Herman Borchers, Akron, Shirley Gothier, Los Angeles, California and Mrs. Chester Belknap of Tule, France; two sons, Harold of Los Angeles and Edward of Phoenix, Arizona; two sisters, Mrs. Jan Shanahan of Tacoma, Washington, and Mrs. Simon Cook of Nampa, Idaho; three brothers, Joe and Ralph of Sioux City and Earl of Venice, California, and seven grandchildren.
