Bio

Josef Shiller/Schiller/Silar was born 22 March 1958 in Nepomuky, East Bohemia, Czech Republic. He arrived in Texas in 1881 and settled in Travis County. In October 1885 he purchased 95.5 acres in this county and the next month, November 8, he married Frances Dusek, daughter of Josef Dusek and Anna Coufal. Josef and Frances Shiller were blessed with one daughter and three sons. Josef donated land for the Schiller School and the Schiller Cemetery.
