Ann Elizabeth (Janda) Wessels, 97, of La Grange, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2015. Ann was born in Hostyn, Texas on June 16, 1917, the daughter of C. M. and Bessie (Kallus) Janda. She married Delton Wessels on February 8, 1953. Ann was the office manager at Fayette Memorial Hospital in La Grange for 47 years. She served on the Sacred Heart Church Advisory Board and sang in the church choir. She was involved with many different organizations such as: Sacred Heart Altar Society, KJZT, KJT, Catholic Daughters of the Americans Court Annunciation #1962, VFW Auxiliary #5254, Fayette Unit of American Cancer Society, volunteer driver for the American Cancer Society, Fayette Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Fayette County Committee on Aging, and Sons of Herman #238. Ann served as an officer for many of the organizations she was involved in. Ann enjoyed camping, fishing, dancing, playing bridge, bowling, volunteering, and most importantly, spending time with family. She is survived by daughter, Robin Hatter and husband, Ricky, of Troy; son, Joe Del Wessels of La Grange; two brothers: Leo F. Janda of La Grange; Vit B. Janda and wife, Gertrude of Bellville; two sisters: Delores Prilop of Angleton and Victoria Kolaja of Houston; sister-in-law, Roslie Wessels-Hunger and husband, Willie, of La Grange; two grandchildren: Joshua Del Hatter and wife, Kelly and Kimberlee Ann Hatter; two step grandchildren: Ricky Hatter Jr. and wife, Holley, and Lisa Marie Pratt; three step great grandchildren: Katy Hatter, Jordan Hatter and Morgan Pratt; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Delton; grandson, Larry Lynn Gabriel Jr.; three sisters: Beatrice Kubasak, Francis Rainosek and Mary Lidiak; three brothers: infant brother, Vaclac Janda, George Janda and Ben Janda; seven brothers-in-law: Pete Rainosek, Jerome Lidiak, Joe Kubasak, Allan Kolaja, Erwin (Barney) Wessels, Elmond Wessels and George Prilop; three sisters-in-law: Pat Janda, Bernice Janda and Willie Mae Janda; and nephew, Ronald Janda. Visitation will be held at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home in La Grange, Texas. Family will receive friends and a rosary will be recited. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, La Grange, Texas. Burial will follow at La Grange City Cemetery.
