Bio

Marian Lilah Kittleson, age 89, of rural Ettrick, died on Thursday, November 28, 2013 in the Gundersen Tri-County Hospital in Whitehall. Marian was born on June 29, 1924 in Trempealeau County, WI to Arthur and Julia (Anderson) Twinde, the youngest of five children. In the late 1940’s she married James Knutson and moved to Milwaukee where they gave birth to their son, James Jr. Following her husband’s death in the fall of 1956, Marian returned to Trempealeau County and on July 11, 1959 married Ralph Kittleson in rural Ettrick with whom she shared 41 happy years at their rural Ettrick farm. Ralph preceded Marian in death on July 11, 2000. Lilah will be remembered for her quiet, gentle strength as well as her thoughtful wisdom and generosity of spirit. Throughout her adult life, she was active in the North Beaver Creek Faith Lutheran Church. A talented craftswoman, Lilah was known throughout the area for her skill as a rosemaler. She also used her creative gifts to produce quilts that commemorated major life events, from birth to high school graduation. A batch of her renowned chocolate chip cookies never lasted long and earned her admirers far and wide. Lillah is survived by a son, James (Fran) Knutson; two granddaughters, Marifran (Greg) Georgis and Julie (Tyler) Rudick; three great-grandsons, Will and Alex Georgis and Theo Rudick all of Rockford, IL. In addition to her parents and two husbands, Marian was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 1, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the North Beaver Creek Faith Lutheran Church with burial in the church cemetery both in rural Ettrick. Pastor Elizabeth Albertson will officiate. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
