Sidney was born at home in Memphis, Tennessee on October 13, 1913. His parents moved to El Paso, Texas in 1914. As a young man Sidney rode the rails across the country. In 1930 Sidney worked (age 16) in St Joseph Missouri as floor-man, for a roller-rink. He moved to New York and manned the trolleys in 1933 and later worked as a subway engineer. He has owned seven businesses including a tavern in Monterrey Park California. Sidney loved people and was always there with a smile on his face and a helping hand. His friends knew him as "TEX" the happy go lucky man that loved life. Sidney found a poem he liked so much, he requested it to be included in his memorial: WHEN LIFE IS DONE I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one. I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. I'd like to leave an echo, whispering softly down the ways, of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun sets on happy memories, that I leave when life is done.
