Grand Island (Nebraska) Independent December 1979 Gerald R. Killion, 55, of 418 E. 12th died Wednesday in a local hospital. Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral. The Rev. Robert Foster will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 3-9 p.m. at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. Mr. Killion was born June 9, 1924, on a farm near Albion. He was the son of Ralph and Lois Sherburn Killion. He attended rural school and was a graduate of Albion High School. He joined the U.S. Air Force in October 1942 and served in the European Theatre. After his discharge in 1945, he moved to Vermont. In 1950 he moved to the Spalding area, and in 1957 he moved to Omaha. He came to Grand Island in 1972. Mr. Killion was a retired auto mechanic. He married Margaret John on Nov. 21, 1975. Mr. Killion was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral parish. He was past commander of V.F.W. Post No. 1347 in Omaha and he was affiliated with Eagles Aerie No. 378 in Grand Island. Survivors include his widow; two sons, Jerry and Paul, both of West Virginia; two daughters, Ruth of Valley and Carla of Omaha; three grandchildren; his mother of Spalding; two sisters, Mrs. Eleanor Glasinger of Spalding and Mrs. Lynda Nelson of Yutan. He was preceded in death by his father and a sister.
