Bio

Herald Coaster, December 27, 1995: A funeral mass for Emil Sodolak, age 92, of Fairchilds, will be celebrated at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 9202 Main Street in Needville at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 28, 1995. The Reverend James Ramsey will celebrate the mass. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28, at the Garmany and Carden Funeral Chapel in Needville. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Serving as pallbearers will be Anthony Vecera, Kelly Kaluza, Emil and James Sodolak, Jay Velek, and John Saenz. Mr. Sodolak died on December 25, 1995 at the Specialty Hospital in Houston. He was born on April 8, 1903 in Sealy. When electricity first came to Fairchilds, he worked as an electrician and wired most of the houses in the area. He worked most of his life as a farmer. He was very active and well known in the community in his younger years, and he was a member of K.J.T. and R.V.O.S. He was also a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. He was a loving father and husband and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Gertrude Sodolak of Fairchilds; his daughters, Mary Lee Kaluza and her husband, E.J., of Fairchils, Martha Mitchell and her husband, Darrell, of Rosenberg, Mildred Vecera of Fairchilds, Loreen Velek and her huband, Jerry, of Houston; a son, Leonard Sodolak and his wife, Annie, of Round Top; stepsons, Daniel Sebesta and his wife, Renea, of Fairchilds, Gene Sebesta of Rosenberg; 21 grandchildren, Gary and Kelly Kaluza, Carol Zahradnik, Marilyn Buchta, Cheryl Saenz, Denise Fojtik, Debbie Weyant, Anthony and Glenn Vecera, Annette Metka, Connie Neelon, Gayle Bludau, Debbie Lambert, Donna Sellers, Jay and Tammy Velek, Diane Shubert, Emil, James, Larry, and Karen Sodolak; a half-brother, Frank Sodolak of Bryan; 29 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; step-brothers, Robert Fagan, Willie Fagan, and Luis Fagan; and a step-sister, Frances Fladek. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Michael Catholic Church Building Fund. Friends may call after 5 p.m. on Wednesday, December 27, at Garmany & Carden Funeral Home, 3103 School Street in Needville.
