Billings Gazette - Billings, MT Monday - 1 May 1961 Page 8 - Column 1-2 John A. Walker Heart Victim HARDIN - John A. Walker, 56, died at his home on Wicks Lane, Billings Bench, Friday afternoon of a heart attack. He was born April 25, 1905 in Billings, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John M. Walker. He attended schools in Billings and worked as a carpenter when he left school. He moved to Hardin in 1925. In 1930 he returned to Billings to work a the Carter Refinery. In 1936 he moved to Denver and worked at the Lowry Air Force Base until he enlisted in the Army in 1943. After his discharge he returned to Billings. He married Lucille Mercer, July 25, 1953, in Springfield, Tenn. They made their home in the Billings Bench until 1958 when they moved to Glasgow. Mr. Walker worked at Glasgow Air Force Base until they returned to Billings in 1959. In August 1960, the family moved to Helena where Mr. Walker became custodian of the Montana State Welfare Building. Survivors include his widow; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Raymond Blair of San Antonio, Texas; two stepsons, Russell and Timothy Burden of Helena; his mother, Mrs. Stella Walker of Hardin; three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Savidge of 2529 Shady Lane, Billings, Mrs. Harry Atkins and Mrs. Thelma Hyde, both of Hardin; and two step-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bullis Fuenral Chapel, the Rev. Howard Remmick officiating. Burial will be in Custer Battlefield National Cemetery. -END-
