Bio

Ella Salter, 79, passed away Saturday Oct. 16, at the home of her daughter Mrs. Marie Gardner after an illness of 14 months. She was the daughter of Joseph and Julia Hughes born July 17, 1875 near Selma. She was married to William Comer in 1892. To this union two children were born, a son Marion who preceded her in death and a daughter Marie Gardner. April 2, 1911 she was married to Benjamin Franklin Salter, who preceded her in death. To this union a son Joe Salter was born. She is survived by one brother Emery Hughes of Selma, a son Joe Salter of Keosauqua, a daughter Marie Gardner of Selma, two grand-daughters, three grandsons, and six great-grand-daughters. Funeral was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday Oct. 19 at Christ Methodist church at Douds with Rev. Robt. Farr officiating. Burial in the Leando cemetery. Source: Van Buren Co.
