THACKERVILLE -- Graveside services for Wayne H. Pinkston, 84, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Mount Zion Cemetery with Brother Murray McMurray officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home. Born March 22, 1922, at Marietta to Eldred O. and Carrie E. Byrd Pinkston, he died May 11, 2006, at Marietta. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and five sisters. He married Ruth Jones on Aug. 29, 1945, at Marietta. Retired from Burrus Feed Mills and Weber Aircraft, he was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1922 at Gainesville, Texas. He had served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theatre, receiving an honorable service lapel button at Camp Legeune, N.C. He loved fishing and he always kept busy making fish nets. He enjoyed playing dominoes (42). Survivors include his wife, Ruth, of the home; son, Bobby Pinkston, of the home; daughters, Betty Maggard and her husband, James, Thackerville, and Sue Dale, Thackerville; grandchildren, Darrell and Melanie Maggard, Randell and Pam Maggard, Karen and Jo Don Robinson, Paul and Bobbi Jo Dale, Bill Dale, Robert Pinkston, Sarah and Joel Nelson; and great-grandchildren, Crystal and Kaci Maggard and Josh and Jenna Robinson. Bearers are James Maggard, Darrell Maggard, Robert Pinkston, Paul Dale, Joe Don Robinson and Steve Shutls. Honorary bearers are Dr. O'Conner, Mercy Memorial Love County Health Center staff, Bill Dale, Randell Maggard, Wesley Liddell Jr. and Charles Thompson.
