Dean B Reynolds Age 91 Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on September 19, 1923. Died February 6, 2015, at his home in Vernal, Utah. Chief has gone to be with Mer. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Donna Ray Lewis, parents Lynn and Crystal Beers, his brother Loran, and grandson Darin Helco. He is survived by two sisters, Eva York (Raymond) and Hazel Haws. He is survived by his three children, Jeri Helco (John), Bill (Bev), and Joyce Gardiner (LD). He attended grade school at Maeser Elementary and finished his schooling as a sophomore at Uintah High School. At the outbreak of World War II, he became a welder in the Kaiser shipyards in Richmond, California, until he was drafted into the Army on January 27, 1944; he attended infantry basic training in Macon, Georgia. He was then shipped overseas to England and attached to the Thirtieth Infantry Division as a Rifleman. His unit landed on Omaha beach in Normandy, France, on June 14, 1944. He participated in five major campaigns through France, Belgium, Holland, the Siegfried Line and Battle of the Bulge. His outfit crossed the Rhine River into Germany at Dusseldorf, fighting their way across Germany until meeting up with the Russians on the Elbe River at Magdeburg. The war ended for him on May 5, 1945. After the war, he was employed by Ashton Brothers from 1947 until 1952. Following this, he worked for Frontier Airlines for the next 30 years. During that time, he served as airport manager for a number of years. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served as Scout Master for 16 years, as a counselor in the MIA presidency, as a counselor in the Elders Quorum presidency as well as Elders Quorum President, in the Stake Sunday School presidency, as High Priest Group Leader, as a Primary teacher, as a Sunday School teacher, and finally as a home teacher. He and his wife Donna served as ordinance workers in the Provo temple for 5 years and the Vernal temple 7 years. He especially loved Temple work and all the special people he worked with. He had many, many hobbies, 22 to be exact. He loved flying, the mountains and everything to do with the outdoors. He loved his family, young people and all of his friends. He will be deeply missed by all those who were blessed to know him. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at 11 A.M. at the Maeser Stake Center (2745 West 1000 North). A viewing will be held Monday evening from 6-8PM at the Ashley Valley Funeral Home and Tuesday morning 9:00~10:45AM at the chapel prior to the services. Interment will be in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery with military honors provided by the American Legion Post 11 and the Utah National Guard. Services are under the direction of the Ashley Valley Funeral Home
