Web posted May 7, 2006 SIMON -- Graveside services for James Harold "Curly" McLane, 89. were 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Simon Cemetery with Howard Johnson officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home. Born Sept. 1, 1916, at Crescent to Hiram and Willie Virginia Stanford McLane, he died May 4, 2006, at an Ardmore health care facility. He married Virginia Florence Forsythe July 14, 1940, at Lawton. She preceded him in death May 15, 1998. He was also preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Kathy Goodson, May 7, 2004, three sisters and three brothers. Curly was raised around Temple and Walters. After his marriage to Virginia he entered the U.S. Army, serving in World War II and was honorably discharged on May 15, 1946. Then living at Wilson, Curly began studying welding on the G.I. Bill at Waurika at the Clifford Lindsey Welding Shop. He also became a licensed plumber and a member of the Plumber-Steamfitter Local #362, Lawton. He worked until his health declined in 1972. He later worked for Homer Lee Grear Welding Services. Curly was a Mason. Survivors include a daughter, Judy Lee Goodson, Wilson; son, James William "Jim" McLane, Wilson; sister, Lois Kattnig, Pueblo, Colo., two grandchildren, Benton Goodson and Audriana McLane; and two great-grandchildren.
