JAMES H. HARDY was born in Mississippi on Sept. 24, 1859 to JOHN L. HARDY {born in South Carolina in 1806 or 1807 and died in 1873 at Crawfordsville, Lowndes County, Mississippi at age 67} and JANE [ROBERTS] HARDY {JANE was a school teacher (no other information on JANE) • JAMES H. HARDY is a descendant of JOHN HARDY. JOHN was born in England in 1613. • Researchers contend that there is no doubt that he was related to THOMAS HARDY {Bradford, MA}, JOHN HARDY {Salem, MA} and RICHARD HARDY {Stamford, CT}. brothers, born in England, who settled in America in the early 1630s. • JOHN HARDY received a rant of 1,150 acres of land in the Isle of Wight County of Virginia in 1666.
