Viola married Jack Christopher Doyle and to this union issue was born: Bride Rozalie Bonnie Kay Obit: Viola Buckaloo slipped the bonds of Earth on Tuesday, December 30, 2014. Viola was born April 8, 1921, in Dimebox, Texas, to Frank and Rozalie Blaha. The family moved to Tilden, Texas, in 1924. When Viola started school, she spoke mainly Czech, like all her siblings. As a young girl, she rode bareback with her best friend early mornings before school checking their traps to collect furs to sell. Finishing school through tenth grade in Tilden (all that was offered at the time), she returned the next year to take a newly offered typing class that led to a job as a typist in the County Clerk's Office and in the County Abstract Office. Viola caught the eye of the County and District Clerk, Julius Franklin. After they married, they continued working together. When Julius died, Viola was appointed to fill out his term as County Clerk while she continued operating the abstract company. She also ran their ranch, taking her turn at cooking on the chuck wagon for the ranch hands. In 1944, she married Sidney Douglas Preston, with whom she had one child, her son, Douglas. After they divorced, she met Jack Doyle, an oil lease broker. Jack brought his child Fay to their marriage and they had two more daughters together - Bride and Bonnie. They worked in the business and raised their children together, celebrating 27 years of marriage before Jack died. Viola owned and managed the McMullen County Abstract Company for 41 years, until her retirement in 1980. Busy with her business and family, Viola still found time for community service. She served as Secretary of the School Board, Vice Chair and Precinct Chair of the Republican Party, Treasurer of McMullen county March of Dimes, as well as Secretary, Treasurer and President of the PTA. When she learned that several children were not attending school because they had no warm clothes, she took them clothes. She took food to hungry families, sewed costumes for school plays, and made sandwiches to sell at ball games. She created a tradition of annual field trips for school children and helped raise money through the PTA to make them possible. Many children had never been out of Tilden before those field trips. Later in life, Viola went back to school at Bee County Junior College, becoming a licensed real estate broker. She was busy with her new career when she met Mack Buckaloo, a banker in Three Rivers, Texas. Both at the end of successful business careers, children grown, they embarked on a romantic courtship, culminating in a surprise elopement. They were granted 9 happy years together before Mack's death from cancer. Viola moved on to a place she and Mack had both loved, Fair Oaks Ranch, near Boerne. She lived in Fair Oaks for 20 years. The most important thing to know about Viola Buckaloo is that she was a courageous and intelligent woman who deeply touched all the lives of those who knew her. A generous and loving spirit, she made a friend of everyone she encountered. Her business acquaintances, her children and grandchildren became her lifelong friends. Hers was a life well lived. A memorial service was held Saturday, January 3, 2015, at 2:30 p.m. at Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home.
