CARR, H. GENEVIEVE "CHURNEY" - age 82 of Sevierville, formerly of Winchester, TN, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Fort Sanders-Sevier Nursing Home. She was a member of the Winchester, TN First United Methodist Church and served as a member and an officer of the United Methodist Women from 1963-2010. She taught school for 35 years, and served as a science teacher at North Junior High from 1969-1997. She was an honored member of Tennessee Retired Teachers, a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Teacher's Society from 1972-2012 and was awarded the Order of the Rose in 2007. Mrs. Carr served as Beta Club sponsor from 1969-1997. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph W. and Nancy Caroline Headrick Burns; sisters, Josephine Burns, Sue B. Porter, and June B. James; and brothers, Bill and John Bud Burns. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dominion Senior Living, Fort Sanders-Sevier Nursing Home, and Home Instead Senior Care. Survivors: husband of 57 years: Paul Eugene Carr; daughter: Joella Lynne Carr; sister: Freda Burns Fox; sister-in-law: Edna Carr; several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Mattox Cemetery Fund, c/o Johnnie Autrey, 3425 Cotter Circle, Sevierville, TN 37862. Family and friends will meet 11:00 AM Wednesday at Mattox Cemetery for graveside service and interment. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 PM Tuesday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.
