Bio

Myrtle Elizabeth "Libby" Herron of Quitman passed away peacefully on May 3, 2011, surrounded by her family. She was born July 2, 1930, in Celina to Anna Lee and Earl Forbis. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Horace Delbert Herron; sons, Don, Keith and Kevin; daughters-in-law; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Libby maintained lifelong friendships that gave her much joy. Libby's faith in the Lord supported a strong love for her family. She and Delbert provided the college education of all three sons. She loved books and stories and enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends. She enjoyed her family history, keeping the memories of family stories fresh in her mind. A devoted mother and wife to the end, her priorities were to her husband and family. She had a generous gift of hospitality and her sense of humor was a blessing to all. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Thomas Carlyle Forbis. A graveside service will be held in Cottage Hill Cemetery near Celina on Friday at 2 p.m. under direction of Lowe Funeral Home, Quitman. A memorial service for her will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2011, at First Baptist Church Quitman at 11 a.m., led by the Rev. James Roberts, a lifelong friend of the family.
