Walter David Lamb, son of George R. and Eva Mullin Lamb, was born March 29, 1919, in Leon and died April 27, 2001, at Greater Community Hospital in Creston. He was 82. He received his education in the Leon schools where he graduated in 1938 and married Reba Mae Kirkpatrick on Jan. 27, 1939. The couple became the parents of two children. Victor and Avonelle. Mr. Lamb as a veteran of World War II and served his country with the U.S. Army spending some of his tour of duty in Germany. Mr. and Mrs. Lamb moved to Osceola in 1940, to make their home. After the war, he was a grocery clerk for United and Gold Star and a receiving clerk for Coast to Coast and Look magazine. He retired in 1976. Preceding him in death were his parents; two sisters, Helen Williams and Evelyn Lamb and a brother Herbert Lamb. Funeral services were May 1 at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola, the Rev. Chuck DeVos officiating. Pennie Gonseth, organist, accompanied Rodger Peel as he sang Amazing Grace and In the Garden. Casket bearers were Loudean Kirkpatrick, Brian Lamb, Darrel Kelso, Karl Sorensen, Randy Lamb and Jeff Lamb. Honorary bearers were Jack Nish, John Willcox, Jim Fluke, Merrill McCarty and Clifford.
