Bio

Ruth I. Kula, 86, of Chapman, died Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at CHI St. Francis in Grand Island. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am Friday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Father Tom Ryan will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Thursday at the church with a 7 pm rosary. Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is serving the family. Memorials are suggested to the family or to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for the Masses. Mrs. Kula was born on January 28, 1928 in Genoa, to William and Anna (Tworek) Dubas. She was raised in the Krakow and Clarks area, graduating from Clarks High School. Ruth was united in marriage to Raymond Kula on April 15, 1947. They farmed near Fullerton, Clarks and Chapman until their retirement, at which time they moved to Chapman. She was a devoted wife and mother. Sewing, needlework, caring for her flowers and garden, and feeding song birds gave her much pleasure. She also enjoyed raising her “bottle baby” lambs, chickens, ducks and geese on the farm. Survivors include eight children; Arnold (Karen) Kula of Omaha, Carol (Loren) Peterson of Grand Island, Vicki (Marvin) Fishler and Ron (Julie) Kula all of Central City, Pat (Rich) Robbins of Eugene, OR, Don Kula of Chapman, Jim (Sonna) Kula of Cascade, MT and Tom Kula of Missoula, MT; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; a brother, Eldon (Joanne) Dubas of Central City; and a sister, Beatta (Alfred) Nabity of Grand Island. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Raymond, and two brothers, Conrad and Bernard Dubas.
