MARIETTA MONITOR, Marietta, OK, Friday, May 24, 1974: FUNERAL SERVICE FOR ERNEST KERR Funeral service for Ernest Kerr were held Monday morning at 10:30 in the Marietta Church of Christ with Bro. Clyde Sloan officiating. Mr. Kerr died May 17 in the Love County Health Center following a heart attack at his home here. He was born October 25, 1899 in the Chickasaw Nation of Indian Territory and had lived in this area since 1907. He was retired from the Santa Fe Railroad after 21 years of service. Mr. Kerr was a veteran of World War I having served in the U.S. Navy. He had also served as deputy sheriff in Love County. He was a member of the Church of Christ and the American Legion and had many friends throughout Love County. Those surviving are his wife, Mrs. Inez Kerr of the home; two sons, Larry Kerr of Coahoma, Texas and Jackie Kerr of Thackerville; one brother, Robert Kerr of Marietta; three sisters, Mrs. Pat Rasor and Mrs. Inez Keel of Marietta and Mrs. Mavis Arnbrecht of Fort Collins, Colo; and seven grandchildren. Burial in the Lakeview Cemetery was under the direction of the Goodrich Funeral Home with the following serving as casket bearers: Jerry Kerr, Charles Driscoll, Joe Dvorak, Vernon Griffin, R. A. Harper, and Sydney Gilstrap.
