Bio

Mary "Mollie" was the daughter of William Duncan and Margaret Bush Ashlock. She was born in Prosper, Texas, just north of Frisco, Texas. She and Henry (Clay) Tarpley eloped to be married about 1897/1898. On December 10, 1899, their first baby was born in Frisco, Jennings Palmer Tarpley. Other children are Irene Tarpley, born about 1908, born in New Mexico; Melvin Meredith Tarpley, born February 28, 1911; and Mary Louise Tarpley born in 1917. They may have traveled to Quay County, New Mexico with Clay's mother, Mary Frances (Frank) Shrader Tarpley, as Irene was born in New Mexico. Mollie is buried next to one of her husband's younger brothers who lived less than a year. Her father-in-law, Sterling Lake Tarpley, is just two grave spaces away from hers. Her husband, Clay, died while visiting his brother, Lee, in New Mexico and is buried in Quay County, New Mexico.
