William Eugene Hansen 1924 ~ 2014 William Eugene Hansen, 90, of Palmyra, Utah passed away Saturday, December 20, 2014. Bill was born on November 6, 1924 in Spanish Fork, Utah to Peter Oliver and Emily Leyshon Hansen. Bill attended Spanish Fork High School and enjoyed growing up there. He married Norma Nell Straw, April 16, 1948 and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on April 16, 1956. Together they had one son, Sidney. Bill joined the U.S. Army. He later worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 32 years where he later retired from. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in various callings. He was the state president of Utah hatchery and breeders and was on the state board of directors of Utah poultry. Master gardener was one of his greatest accomplishments. He was a hard worker and especially took pride in working in his yard and garden. He is survived by two grandchildren, Holly (Kennen) Thatcher and Shad (Jenny) Hansen; daughter-in-law, Pattie Cooper. He also leaves behind a brother, Everett Hansen and five great grandchildren, Robbie Thatcher, Sid Thatcher, Drew Hansen, Emma Hansen, and Luke Hansen. He is preceded in death by his wife, Norma Nell; son, Sidney; his parents, and nine siblings. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Palmyra Ward Chapel, 1866 West 5000 South, Spanish Fork, Utah. Family and friends may visit at the church on Tuesday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
