OBITUARY OF MAE BURTON Mae Ackerman Hussey Burton was born Nov. 29, 1891, to Francis and Anna Johnson Ackerman in Ortello Valley. She lived there with her family except for a few years when her parents resided in Mason City. They later returned to Ortello Valley, where she attended rural school. On Dec. 6, 1910, she married Fredrick C. Hussey. They were the parents of two sons and two daughters. One of the daughters died in infancy. They lived in Ortello Valley and in the Broken Bow community. Mr. Hussey died in November, 1923. On April 21, 1926, she married Delbert Burton of Merna. They farmed near Anselmo and Merna for five years. They then moved to Litchfield, where they lived for 43 years. In October, 1973, they moved to Broken Bow. After moving to Litchfield, she joined the Christian Church of which she was a member for 40 years. She later joined Broken Bow First Christian Church. She also was a member of the Order of Eastern Star at Litchfield, and the Mason City Eastern Star of which she was a past Worthy Matron. She died Feb. 21 following a heart attack. Surviving are her widower, Delbert, sons, Lloyd Hussey of Chadron and Charles Hussey of Denver, Colo.; daughter, Mrs. Ed (Opal) Pelanowski of Broken Bow; and seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.
