Overton William Bobo, age 94, of Maysville, WV passed away Monday, December 8, 2014 at the Grant County Nursing Home. He was born August 16, 1920 in Hardy County, Kessel, WV and was a son of the late Roy William Bobo and Blanche (Kessel) Bobo. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, LaVaughn Bobo and great grandson, Logan Michael Kessel; son-in-law, Joseph L. Clark. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corp. He worked for Noah and Maggie Snyder on their farm at Lahmansville and on several other farms. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II where he served in the 472 Ambulance Company Medical Corp. He was a life member of the Potomac Highland VFW Post 6454. He worked for Mathias Grocery in Petersburg for several years and retired from the West Virginia Department of Highways after 28 years. He was a faithful member of the Franz Hill Church of Christ at Maysville, WV. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Mary V. (Keplinger) Bobo, two sons, Lysle O. (Connie) Bobo of Maysville, WV and Roy J. (Sharon) Bobo of Maysville, WV; six daughters, Betty Sue Clark of Maysville, WV, Kathryn B. (George) Davis of Alexandria, VA, Esther V. (David) Franz of Maysville, WV, Frances H. (Tommy) Kessel of Maysville, WV, Janie M. (Larry) Berg of Petersburg, WV and Peggy Bobo Alt and son, Marcus of Maysville, WV; seventeen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, eleven great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Karl W. (Myrtle) Bobo of Lahmansville, WV and John Paul (Betty) Bobo of Quilcene, WA and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Thursday 1 p.m. (Dec. 11, 2014) at the Schaeffer Funeral Home with Evangelist Travis Hansrote and Evangelist Benton Cochran officiating. Burial will be in the Keplinger Family Cemetery near Maysville with Bagpipe music by Scott Cameron and military honors by the Potomac Highlands VFW Post 6454 and West Virginia Army Honor Guard.
