Bio

Melissa and Elisha had at least 6 children: Lyman, Edmund, Mary, Samuel, Addison and Otho. After Elisha's death in 1863, Melissa continued to live in Iowa in both the 1870 and 1880 census. In 1870 she was living in Warren County with 3 of their sons: Samuel, Addison and Otho. In 1880 she was living in Polk County with son Otho and 4 granddaughters. After this she probably moved to Kansas to live with son Edmund in Labette County where he was living in 1880. I found no record of her marriage to Elisha but it probably occurred some time before 1837 when son, Lyman, was born in Indiana. The family moved from Indiana to Iowa between 1850 and 1860. Children of Elisha and Melissa Smith:: Son - Lyman Abbott Smith Son - Edmund Silas Smith Daughter - Mary Martha Smith born abt 1843, married Amos Krewson in 1859. Married Frank Minear 1871 and married S.W. (Sam) Parsons 8/19/1876. In 1880 her 4 young children are living with her widowed mother, Melissa. Son - Samuel Hedge Smith Son - Addison Fillmore "Frank" Smith Son - Otho A. Smith
