Daisy Schmaljohn was born in David City, Nebraska. Frank and Daisy were both raised in the same area in Nebraska. Daisy was friends with Frank's sisters, and visited his parents farm from time to time. They eloped and were married without anyone's knowledge. Frank worked for the railroad. At some point the family lived in a railroad box car in or near Rockville, NE. Later they lived in a small house in Rockville, having seven children, and were very poor. They were separated, and Frank lived in a small house near the edge of town. Frank died New Years Day in 1956 at the age of 46 in unusual circumstances. She was a very stong woman who worked hard to provide for her family. Later, she was remarried to Roy Carlson, and lived in Omaha, NE until his death. Most of Daisy's children eventually settled in Colorado. Around 1974, she moved to Niwot, CO. She was an artist, and loved to create paintings. She then lived in a Cabin at a campground owned by Ray and Beverly (her daughter). She then moved to the Greeley Manor in Greeley, CO where her daughter Shirley was living. She died in Greeley, CO, at the age of 72.
