"Emily Sabata, 90 years, of Bruno, NE, died Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Fremont Health Medical Center in Fremont, NE. Emily was born on the family farm northeast of Prague, NE on August 20, 1924 to John O. and Emma (Kavan) Ladenburger. She attended school at District 92 and Prague Catholic Grade School and graduated in 1942 from Prague High School. She attended Creighton University in Omaha, NE; Midland College in Fremont, NE; and Kennedy College in Wahoo, NE. She also attended numerous night classes and correspondence courses. She received a General Elementary Teacher’s Certificate. She taught for 17 years at one-room country elementary schools, including Districts 92, 78, 86, 12 and 51, all in Saunders County. Emily married Joseph C. Tomek on August 23, 1965 at Prague, NE. He died in 1976. On May 15, 1990, Emily married Frank A. Sabata at Plasi, NE. He died June 19, 2014. She lived on the family farm from the time of her birth until 2002 when she and her husband Frank moved into Bruno. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and St. Anthony’s Altar Society in Bruno, former member of St. John’s Catholic Church and St. John’s Altar Society in Prague. She raised doves and was a bird enthusiast and animal lover. She enjoyed polka music and dancing and loved to play Bingo. She is survived by her sister, Nadine Racek of Morse Bluff, NE; brother John (Peggy) Ladenburger, Jr. of Bettendorf, IA; stepsons, Frank J. Sabata of Bruno, NE and Ed (Cindy) Sabata of Brainard, NE; stepdaughter, Sharon (Ron) Mueller of Ames, NE; nieces, Jerrine Racek of Morse Bluff, NE, Jacki (Steve) Florentius of Ramsey, MN, Stephanie (Sam) Larson of Pittsburgh, PA; nephew, Alex (Indira) Ladenburger of LeClaire, IA; beloved cousin, Claire (Roger) Bachofer of Golden, CO; numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Joseph Tomek and Frank Sabata; brother-in-law, Lorin Racek; niece Lorna Pelan; nephew, Larry Racek. Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM, Saturday, December 6, 2014 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church at Bruno, NE. The Rev. Father Ron Homes will officiate. Visitation with the family present will be Friday, December 5, 2014 from 6 PM to 9 PM with a Rosary at 7:30 PM at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Bruno. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service at the church. Burial will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery at Bruno, NE. Memorials may be directed to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Bruno."
