Julia passed away on November 15, 2012 at the age of 92. She was born in Arcadia, NE, on October 12, 1920 to Wenman and Martha (Lueck) McMichael. She attended school in Arcadia from K through 12, graduating in 1938. In 1951 Julia married Maurice R. (Pete) Youngquist of Loup City, NE. He was her faithful soul mate until his death in 1999. When Julia married Pete, a ten year old came with him. Elden turned out to be the most thoughtful son anyone could have. In 1951, Pete, Julia and Elden moved to Pasco, WA, where Pete and Julia enjoyed living and called it their final hometown. After working at the catalog desk at Sears for a few years, Julia took the Practical Nursing Program at Columbia Basin College and became a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1965. She had previously worked in the nursing field for eleven years while living in Loup City. She worked for fifteen years at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, retiring in 1980 to take care of her Mother. Julia volunteered for the Red Cross at their blood drawings and eventually served as voluntary chairperson / coordinator for Pasco blood drawings. She retired from this work when health problems slowed her down. Julia was an active and faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Pasco, which she joined in 1954. She served in several work areas until it became impossible for her to carry on due to health concerns. She continued her service as chairperson of the Prayer Room Team, the Prayer Chain and the Pastor's Prayer Warrior Team, and was a faithful Prayer Warrior for many of the Church Family. Her stepson, Elden of Nashville, TN, a niece Jeannie Moderow and her family of Omaha, NE, a nephew, Lawrence Burman of Rockville, NE, and many special friends of the "Church Family" survive Julia. She is preceded in death by her sisters Marjorie Petersen and Winoa Malolepszy and sister in law Leota (Youngquist) Burman. A memorial service will held at Hillcrest Bruce Lee Memorial, 2804 W Lewis St, Pasco, WA on Monday November 19, 2012 from 12:00pm – 2:00pm, followed by inurnment at Columbia Memorial Garden.
