Bio
Bessie Vlasta Slovacek Mills, 87, of Taylor, formerly of Manor, passed away March 17, 2010. She was born March 7, 1923, to John and Annie Kovarik Slovacek in Granger, Texas. She married August Mills, Jr. on May 10, 1946. She was predeceased by her parents, three siblings, and her husband of 40 years. She was a homemaker most of her life. She also worked at the School for the Deaf and Lamme's Candies. She is survived by daughter, Marjorie Ahrens, and husband Gerald, of Taylor; son, Jack Mills and wife; Barbarann, of Manvel, Texas; and granddaughter, Christy Ahrens of Taylor. She is also survived by her sister, Libbie Ruzicka; sister-in-law, Frances Shuffield and husband, Joe of Midland; and sister-in-law, Mildred Wendland of Taylor; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Special friends were Andrew Stewart, Sharon Pick, Henrietta Gordon, and Betty Ann and Carl Streid. Visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 19, at Condra Funeral Home in Taylor. Services at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 20, at Condra Funeral Home. Burial at the Taylor City Cemetery. Memorials can be made to a charity of your choice.
