Bio

Fairfield Recorder - April 8,1898 Death of Mrs. Adkins Mrs. Adkins, mother of Mr. A. Adkins, of our town died at the residence of her son last Saturday morning. She had been in bad health for some time and when the summons came she answered quietly and peacefully as if she had lain down to sleep. Mrs. Adkins was born in Mississippi and was perhaps 80 years of age; she died April 2, 1898. Her remains were interred in the Fairfield cemetery last Sunday morning, Rev. E.J. Brown officiating. She was a kind Christian, a good woman and after a long and useful life, she need rest well. We can but look back over the way of a long, long life and say it is well; or we can look forward to a meeting with many we love, long years gone before us, then death loses much of its sadness; for though we may weep it is not as they who have no hope. The RECORDER extends sympathy to the relatives in this their great loss. ______ Fifth child - Anna Nancy "Nannie" Adkins Crail Goodwin (believed to be the twin of Susan "Sue" Mourning/Morning Adkins Johnson according to the 1860 US Census in Selma, Dallas, Alabama.)
