Funeral services for Mrs. Jewell McBride Dempsey, 64, will be held Sunday at 2 pm in the Oakley-Metcalf chapel with the Revs. Walter Gibbs and H. E. Small officiating. Interment will be in Bennett Cemetery. Mrs. Dempsey, 206 Judith St., died suddenly Thursday evening in a local hospital. She was born June 28, 1896, in Trinity County and had been a resident of Lufkin for the past 16 years. She was a member of the Forest Park Methodist Church Mrs. Dempsey is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Alice Standley of Lufkin, and Mrs. W. B. Dwire of Groveton; step-daughter, Mrs. Duke Murphy of Woodville; 6 sons, Burl "Pete" McBride and J. T. McBride, both of Lufkin, Julius McBride of Austin, Bennett McBride of Mission, Benford McBride of Pt. Arthur and Warrant Officer James R. McBride of the US Air Force stationed in France; 5 sisters, Mrs. H. H. McBride, Mrs. Nan Mangrum, Mrs. C. B. Collins, Mrs. Ester Deaton and Mrs. Lee Walton; niece, Mrs. Dora Eaves; 22 grandchildren.
