Bio
The funeral for Marie Medhus, 92, of Leeds was held at the Leeds Lutheran Church. Interment was in the church cemetery. She died Dec. 29, 2003 at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby. The Nelson Funeral Home of Leeds was in charge of arrangements. Marie Evelyn Buchta was born Oct. 21, 1911 in Leeds to Andy and Mary Perolich Buchta. She was raised in Beaver Township and attended a rural township school. She married Bennett Medhus Nov. 21, 1930. The farmed northeast of Leeds and operated a custom combining business until retiring and moving into Leeds. He died May 26, 1976. She continued living in Leeds until 2002 when she became a resident of the Heart of America Medical Center Long Term Care Unit in Rugby. She was a member of the Leeds Lutheran Church. She was baptized at North Prairie Lutheran Church north of Leeds in 1941 and confirmed at the Leeds Lutheran Church in 1959. Survivors include a brother, Victor (Clara) Buchta of Rugby. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four sisters, Rose Lunell, Lily Wirtz, Irene Anderson and GGrace Lemke; and four brothers, Frank, John and Raymond Buchta and an infant.
