SHRADER GOING TO CAVE Following a telegram announcing the death of Mrs. Isabelle Shrader of near Murray, Neb. Relatives in the northwest part of the county received a letter containing information as to her fate and the devastation wroght (sic) by the cyclone. The splendid home of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Shrader lay directly in the path of Sunday evenings storm. The family with only a brief warning that their home was in danger hastily donned a few wraps and started to a hollow about two honed=red yards south of the house they evidently thinking this safer than the cellar under the building. The party consisted of Mr. and Mrs Shrader their son and their two granddaughters. Mrs. Shrader being about six feet in the rear. When nearing the hollow the cyclone was upon them the son grasped a tree and reached back his hand for his mother but the storm had carried her away. She was found dead lying on the weedpile east of the house her neck shoulder and arm broken face mangled right eye and left ear gone and her clothing torn from her body. Their house barn and everything swept away. Mr. Shrader being left with insufficient clothing to be comfortable. Another son and his wife living a few miles distant was on his way to his father’s home but fearing the storm had turned back when he was overtaken tea, buggy and occupants lifted above the tree tops and whirled around and around the husband sustaining two broken ribs and other slight injuries. Mrs. Shrader’s funeral was held March 25 at Lewiston Church which is a few miles west of her home and then her remains were laid to rest. Isabelle Hutchison Shrader grew to womanhood and was married in Jackson township on what is now the L. H. Christison farm. She is a niece to Uncle Jimmy Hutchison, a sister of Mrs. Amanda Marlow and of the late John P. Hutchison and has many other relatives and friends in the county who are shocked to learn of her untimely death.
