Grandson of George Sherriff, from England Blunn - Cecil T., 89, Lincoln, died Monday (1/20/97). Born, Wichita, Kan. Retired professor of animal science, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, 27 years, 1972. Member, St. David's Episcopal Church. Survivors: son, daughter-in-law, Thomas and Sue, Missoula, Mont.; daughters, sons-in-law, Althea and Joe Schaf, St. Libory, Elizabeth and Morris Blaylock, Weatherford, Okla., Felicity Hollister, Alvord, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Elizabeth. Memorial service: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, St. David's Episcopal Church, 8800 Holdrege St. Father Maurice V. Champion-Garthe. No viewing. No visitation. Body donated to the State of Nebraska Anatomical Board. Memorials to St. David's Episcopal Church Building Fund, (68505). Roper & Sons Mortuary. - Dr. Cecil Blunn, retiring Univ of Neb-Lin. professor and nationally recognized animal scientist was honored with a reception at the C.Y. Thompson Library on East Campus. He will be senior research advisor, Ministry of Agriculture & Water in Saudi Arabia. - During the 27 years service at the University, Dr. Blunn has been active in several far-reaching fields of animal science research. He began at NU in 1945 as a professor, soon progressed to graduate faculty and was made chairman of the departmental Graduate Committee. - In 1948, Dr. Blunn spurred into being an interdepartmental Ph.D. program in animal genetics and served as its first chairman. Ten years later, the Ph.D. program was expanded to cover the entire genetics area. - In 1956, Dr. Blunn explored int'l interests with a 2-yr leave to Ankara Univ. in Turkey, he taught animal breeding & statistics, wrote a manual on stats for the Turkish people & provided counsel in statistics for gov't employees. - In 1967, Dr. Blunn was honored by the American Society of Animal Science, which conferred on him the title of Fellow "in recognition of distinguished service over a period of 25 years."
