Bio
John Lehman McKinney, age 94, of Bellmead passed away Thursday March 23, 2006 at a local hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 26 at Bellmead Funeral home Chapel with the Rev. Curtis Holland officiating. Burial will be at Prairie Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Saturday, March 25 at the funeral home. Lehman was born Sept. 27, 1911 in Watt, Texas to James Robert and Nezzie Burns (Walker) McKinney. He married Rubye Mae Gauntt Nov. 2, 1935 in Prairie Hill, Texas. He retired from the Texas Highway Department in 1976 after 23 years of service. He was a member of Lacy Lakeview Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Rubye Mae McKinney, of Waco; sons, Billy McKinney and wife, Jeanne, of Ft. Worth, Larry McKinney and wife, Peggy, of McKinney; granddaughters, Cheryl Milone, Shana McKinney, Mindi Warren, Michelle Barker, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Dean Lyon, Joe Gauntt, Leldon Gauntt, Charles Morgan, Max Burnett, and Kelly Pitts. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hillcrest Hospice, P. O. Box 5100, Waco, TX 76708.
