Amasa was the son of Titus and Susanna (Berry) Tyler. From the source The Tyler Genealogy: The Descendants of the Branford, Connecticut Line of Roger Tyler by Willard I. Tyler Brigham & Calvin Cedric Tyler, Vol. III (1976), pg. 259; "Marriages at Great Barrington, Mr. Amasa Tyler to Miss Hannah White, Sat. 2 March 1793." According to the above source, Amasa built and lived in the last house, in Richmond next to the New York state line. On 19 April 1808, Nathan Rossiter conveyed to Amasa Tyler of Richmond his land there. Throughout their lives a warm affectionate and intimate friendship continued between Amasa and his cousin Rev. Bennet Tyler, President of Dartmouth College.
