Bio

CLARION - John H. Kifer, 93, of Sligo, died Tuesday, September 17, 1987, at Clarion Osteopatic Community Hospital. Born November 11, 1893, in Monroe Twp., he was the son of John H. and Jane (Greenawalt) Kifer, Sr. On October 13, 1913, he married the former Ruby M. Dunkle. She died June 6, 1979. Mr. Kifer attended the First Church of God at Callensburg. He had been a coal miner for 50 years. Survivors include two sons; Fred Kifer of Struthers, OH, and Edward L. Kifer, of Sligo; three daughters, June Cotterman of Knox, Dorothy Bissett of Lowellville, OH, and Bessie Kifer at home; 18 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Melvin who died in 1959, and one brother and two sisters. Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Cleo A. Hawk Funeral Home, Sligo, Terry L. Beamer, director, with the Rev. Ralph Baker, First Church of God pastor, officiating. Interment was in Churchville Cemetery.
