Son of John Adam Gaumer and his 2nd wife Sarah Eliza Cone . He was born in Doyle Township south of Murray. He was the 15th of 17 children[of John A. Gaumer]. He married Katie Mae Wolfe on March 8, 1911. They had 4 children: Dorothy Mae Gaumer, Orville Franklin Gaumer, Ruby Maxine Gaumer[married Robert Franck] and Loren Merton Gaumer.
